Fourth Grade Unique Experiences Moving up to the Middle Grades is an exciting, landmark event. Summit children continue their learning adventure through the rich array of programs offered in the fourth grade curriculum. For the Living Biographies activity, each child researches a notable person in American history. After reading biographies for background, students construct an all-grade-level time line in theater, through which they present their characters to the whole class. They also “play” their characters during small group discussions, led by an adult who is also in character. The Fourth Grade Factory, a long-standing tradition, combines art, production management, and economics. In the Summit pottery studio, students make useful pieces that they sell during May Frolics. The profit is given to a local charity chosen by the fourth graders.
