| About Homework | Arts in Junior High In seventh grade, a curriculum-integrated unit includes Greek dramas and dancing. Eighth and ninth graders may elect to be in a drama, such as the fall 2005 production, A Nose for the News, or a comedy, such as the fall 2006 production, Supercomics, or a musical, such as the spring 2006 production of Grease. In all performances, the process is as important as the product. Showcasing the skills developed in art and pottery classes, students display their work in hallways and display cases throughout the school. Some also submit work to the Dixie Classic Fair. Pottery enrichment is offered after school for those with special interest. Each year seventh graders make decorations for the Brenner Children’s Hospital Festival of Trees. Junior High students plan, organize, build scenery, and decorate for two dances each year. Every two years, students create art projects for sale at the auction sponsored by the Parents’ Association. Thousands of dollars have been raised from the students’ work. To learn more about our Arts Program, please click here.
