The Power of the Mind
Virginia Perry

Learn how to utilize the power of your mind: a course in self-hypnosis. Don’t be mistaken. There will be no swinging pocket watches or spinning diagrams. The truth is that we often need to cultivate certain skills in order to realize just how powerful our mind actually is, particularly when it comes to managing stress or dealing with day-to-day or even difficult anxieties. Since the brain is capable of generating new pathways, through hypnosis old habits can be eliminated and new patterns of behavior can be developed. Virginia Perry is a licensed marriage and family therapist. She is also certified in clinical hypnosis with The American Society of Clinical Hypnosis. She has successfully practiced this form of therapy with many local folks. She will provide a history and understanding of clinical hypnosis with an emphasis on self-hypnosis. She will offer case studies of its effective use as a tool to help with a variety of issues from severe habit disorders to surgical procedures. Virginia will also lead exercises in hypnosis and provide homework exercises to help participants develop these skills.
