George Shipp writes from San Diego, "My travel agency has made arrangements for a group to view the first Major League Baseball game played in China. On March 15, 2008, the San Diego Padres will play a spring-training game with the LA Dodgers in the BirdNest in Beijing. It would be a stretch for me to say that I was inspired by playing in the first baseball game where Summit defeated Charlotte Country Day at an away game in 1956. On October 26, 2008, we also have a group traveling to London to watch the San Diego Chargers play the New Orleans Saints."

We are living in Chapel Hill where I am the associate dean of UNC's Kenan-Flagler Business School. I trust Doug Lewis will laugh out loud at that!"

After leaving south Florida after nearly 6 years, we moved to central Florida, where I headed up Secondary Marketing for a mid-size mortgage firm. At the beginning of 2007, I made a move to RG Crown Bank as VP Secondary Marketing. Shortly thereafter, the bank was acquired by Fifth Third and the job hunt was on again. I have wanted to get back to North Carolina for many years and this was the perfect opportunity to bring my family back to the state where I grew up. I moved to the "other side" of the mortgage industry at just the right time and am now in product management for one of the largest mortgage insurers in the US and Canada. I love being back in North Carolina, just minutes from NC State, UNC, and Duke. Hopefully, I will finally make it to Winston Salem and be able to show my family Summit some time in the near future.
