1938
    Maryann Warnken is still painting, writing poetry and gardening. She is trying to move back to the South because Glen Falls, NY, has only 2 seasons - summer and winter-and she misses spring and fall. Luckily, she has many fond memories of the North Carolina. An excerpt from one of her poems tells of the promise of spring:

                                                  It is April now and light
                              The cherry tree has soft pink buds nearly open
                              And the tulips and daffodils now in the warm air
                                     The mourning dove coos for its mate
                              And the robins greet each morning and evening.
 

1947
   Aurelia Eller writes, "I have moved into a small house in Arbor Acres and am so happy that son John and his wife Andrea and two grandsons, J.D. and Gray, are now in my house on Pine Valley Road." J.D. and Gray are both students at Summit.

1952
    Sally Thomasson Barneycastle and her husband now have three beautiful and handsome grandchildren. Granddaughter, Christina, is 13 1/2 and her brother, Thomas, is 10 1/2. They are the children of Anna and Charles Hilton.  Sallys grandson, Gray, is the son of Donna and Billy Comer.

1954
    Charlie Davis volunteers in the Peace Corps in Romania where he specializes in Community Economic Development. I encourage all alums (even the "older" ones) to seize the opportunity of being a Peace Corps volunteer, he writes.

1957
    April Collier Marshall's son Drew, his wife Alice, and daughter, Isabelle, 3 1/2, live in Winston-Salem. Her son, Lance, his wife Melissa, and daughter Tatum Grace, 2, live in Denver, CO.

1969
    After 10 years on the District Court, David Cayer was elected Superior Court Judge for District 26-C in Charlotte, NC.
    Joan Moossy, who lives in New York City, came south for her 30th reunion at Salem. She was elected class correspondent and set up an e-group for her class. She says, if anyone is interested in setting up one for our Summit class, its easy. Just go to Yahoo Groups and they walk you through it.
   Duncan Lewis is a sculptor and artist working in Winston-Salem. He recently designed a piece for Piedmont Triad Research Park which honored Dr. C. Douglas Maynard, a former Summit parent.

1970
    Rosalind Willis Olson says she gets to see Robin Hanes and Ellen Trotman Foltz in Asheville. My family is growing up, she says. I have 5 children ages 13-27 and 2 grandchildren!
    Ellen Trotman Foltz attended the New England Culinary Institute in Montpelier, VT, in 1986, and worked as a chef in Vermont for 15 years. She has two children, Anna, 20, and Jordan, 19. She recently moved to Asheville, NC, where she opened Miz Ellies Personal Chef Service. She and fellow Summit classmate, Robin Hanes, go hiking together several times a month.

1971
    Lindsay Gray writes, I always get a kick out of answering the question, where did you meet your business partner?  Five year old kindergarten at Summit School.  Tom O'Brien and I have been partners in the printing business of AccuCopy for 23 years.  We have over 75 employees and continue to grow.
    Doug Sosnik and wife, Fabiana Jorge, welcomed a son, Christopher Robert, on April 18, 2002. They live in Washington, D.C. where Doug has his own business consulting firm.
   Celia Lewis has completed her doctorate in Environmental Studies.  She works at Cold Spring School, an independent K-6 school in New Haven, CT.  She lives in Guilford with her husband Michael Anderson and  children Finn and Harriet Rose.

1972
    Kip Hodges is a professor at M.I.T. Although his formal training is in geology, his research interests have diversified to include environmental sensor system development. He is hoping to develop such systems for monitoring fringing reefs and the nearby on-shore ecosystems with which they are linked. He and his wife traveled to Roatan for the first time in November of 2001 and fell in love with the island so much that they bought a place called Iguana House, on the beach just east of Calabash Bight.

1973
    Ellen Nordstrom Baer was formerly a professor at the University of New Hampshire but found the 2 3/4 hour commute to be too difficult. She is living in Norwich, VT, and teaching at two schools - St. Paul's and Concord Community Music School. Her husband is attending graduate school at McGill in Canada and her 15-year-old daughter has her driving permit. She writes that she really misses Aurelia Eller, Pam Niven, Suzanne Sutton, Julie Clinard, Betsy Neill and Angela Dillard Big hugs to you all!
    Katherine Wall lives in Los Angeles, CA.
     In January 2003, Vaughn McCall, M.D., M.S., accepted the position of Tenured Professor and Chairman of Psychiatry and Behavioral Medicine at Wake Forest University.

1974
    Wake Clinard and his band, Eves Rib, released their third CD. It is available at amazon.com or cdstreet.com.
    Deborah Hudspeth lives in the Bronx, NY, where she is a writer currently working on a non-fiction book as well as the translation of a childrens poetry book with her friend, Semyon Ostrovsky, who is a leading childrens writer in Russia.  Deborah spent much of her career working in cataloging and collection development in academic libraries. She toured Summit this past summer and afterwards wrote to Sandra Adams: The white colonnade and grassy courtyard remind me of Thomas Jeffersons University of Virginia. The childrens library resembles New York Public Librarys premier Donnell Childrens Library. The middle school library is equally stunning and to have a working television station in a grammar school is quite unique and remarkable. I am proud to have been part of Summit, and am always grateful for all that it has given me.
    Frank Wall is living in Bozeman, MT.
    Rusty Doggett is selling advertising for AOL Time Warner in Raleigh, NC. I went from a Mickey Mouse operation (Disney) to AOL Time Warner."
   Elizabeth Cole is a senior program officer at the Carnegie Council on Ethics and International Affairs.  Her letter, entitled "Shop of Horrors," was printed in the NY Times Op-Ed section on October 21, 2003.

1975
    Mary Louise Eller Ball, husband, Jim, and son, Gus, welcomed Sarah Elizabeth Sally on June 19, 2003. She weighed 7 lbs., 10 oz. They live in New York City.
    Bim Tudor and wife, Beverly, welcomed a son, Albert Dillon, on August 11. Their daughter Nikki, 21/2, is happy to have a little brother and her own bedroom!
    Lou Shore Winship lives in Atlanta where her husband has started his own transportation logistics consulting business and she has opened an interior design firm. The couple have 3 boys, ages 9, 11 and 13-- and 3 dogs.

1977
    Lacy James's dance company, Mereminne Dancers, will have its debut season in NYC Sept. 4-6, 2003.
    Charlie Lovett's playTwindarella, which debuted at Summit, was recently performed at a school in London. Rachel Joseph of Wolfson Hillel Primary School wrote: Have just performed the play Twindarella with my class of 10-year-olds and they absolutely loved it. The script was full of life, laughs and energy. The audience was taken on a magical journey to Wychwood-Under-Ooze and after an hours entertainment, I'm not sure they wanted to come back!  The play allows the children to develop their characters and we loved the idea that there is not just one main star, but that all the children have a chance to shine. Congratulations to Charlie who recently heard that Twinderella will be published by Pioneer Drama Service, Inc. As it is performed in schools all over the nation, we can proudly say it debuted here at Summit!
    Melanie Stone-Elmer lives in Florida and writes that she loved her years at Summit- from 1966 to1975.
    Laura Mueller Woods is a part-time photographer at the Charlotte Observer. She and husband, Mark, stay busy with their children John, 2 1/2, and Kiley, 1.

1978
    Donnell Carr lives in Truckee, CA, where he works for East West Partners and IMI Resort Sales and Marketing. He and his wife have two children, Austin, 3, and Arabella, 1, who he says love it there and will soon ski circles around their parents.

1979
    Art Blackwood and his wife, Kirkie,have two children, Benjamin, 7, and Meghan, 6. He is a cubmaster and hockey coach and sings in the choir at Center Grove Baptist Church in Clemmons, NC.
    Carolyn Huettel is living in the Triangle area of NC and still works for Nortel Networks. She continues to run and is getting ready for a trail marathon in the fall.
    Follin Armfield Key had a son, Alexander Harris, on March 8, 2003.

1980
    Peggy Holthusen Bitler lives in NYC with husband, Paul, and 3 children Grant 7, Luke 5, and Holt, almost 1.
    Deanne Maynard lives in Alexandria, VA with her husband Charlie Rawls and  Carrie Maynard Rawls, who turns two on Thanksgiving Day, 2003.  Deanne is a partner in the law firm of Jenner & Block in Washington, D.C.

1981
    Jennifer Cleland Green has four sons: Stan, 8, Jack, 5, David, 3, and Alexander, 8 months. Stan Green (85) is an Associate Attorney with Womble Carlyle Sandridge and Rice in Environmental law.
    Andrew Rawson's wife Treasure works in post production at Disney and he is the gaffer on the NBC show "Scrubs."  They have a 3-year-old, Cami, and a 1-year-old, Ashleigh. The Rawsons live in Van Nuys, CA.
    Grace Mangum has lived and worked in NYC for the past ten years-- primarily in the areas of publishing and new media. She is currently in the process of working on a collection of short stories and is applying to law school.
    Sara Slusher Patrick had a son, Alexander Thomas MacDonald Patrick, on August 14, 2003.  He joins big brother Charles (Charlie) Asher MacDonald Patrick who was born January 3, 2002.

1982
    Rob Edwards is a principal at Bank of America Capital Investors, a private equity/venture capital group in Charlotte.  He has three active children Robert, 5, who has started Charlotte CountryDay School, Jake, 3, and Elizabeth, 2.
    Bryan Adams was recently nominated by the Writers Guild of America for the television Writing Achievement Award for Outstanding Script of 2002 in the comedy/variety series category. Bryan is a writer and supervising producer for MAD-TV.  His wife Heather is currently filming a pilot for a major network.

1983
    Gregory Jones and his wife welcomed their third daughter, Anne Davis, on September 13, 2002. Big sisters Margaret (6) and Caroline (3) were thrilled.
    Lisa Pappas Field married Robert Field on June 15, 2002 and had a little girl, Virginia Evangeline Field on July 13, 2003.  The Fields live in Cleveland, OH.
    Eleanor Garrou Rubin received a Masters degree in social work at NYU in 1999. She is working in New York as the head of social services at a therapeutic nursery serving children ages 3-5 who have special needs.
    Michael Steele married Dr. Rebekah Oyler on April 12th.  The couple live in Raleigh, NC.
    Sean Toole relocated to Oakland, CA, where he is an economic analyst in the international gas group of Chevron Texaco. Our firm has the largest foreign investment in the former Soviet Union so I am still speaking Russian and applying the teachings of Mrs. Konstantinow on a daily basis, writes Sean.I have recently seen David Christopher, Duffy Newman and Filippo Berti.
    Lisa Anderson Sari has 3 children who attend Summit. Sam is in grade 4, Catherine in 2nd and Jack is in Sr. K.

1984
    Barrett Isley Kenan, and husband Hamp, live in Winston-Salem with son Bo, 6, and daughter Baker, 3.
    Sarah Higginbotham Koski's daughter, Lucie Clare, was born May 20, 2002. She joined Madeline, 4, and Lily ,2, who love their baby sister. They live in Richmond, VA.
    Rick McFarland married Shannon Loy Smith of Kernersville on September 15, 2001.
    Lisa Tudor traveled to Chile, Argentina, the Falkland Islands and Antartica in December 2002 and shared her adventure with the faculty and her students at Summit.  This fall, Lisa begins her 5th year as art teacher at Summit.

1986
    Carlyle Chandler is the Business Development Officer for SouthTrust Asset Management in Montgomery, AL. His first child, Margaret Wilder, was born May 17, 2002.
    Jacqui Browne Duncan is married and the mother of twin girls. She and her husband Garfield recently purchased the Aamco Transmission shop in Winston-Salem. They attended Summits March 2003 Dinner Auction, Among the Stars, An Evening in Black and White.
    Brad Gray is still working at Circuit City, buying audio products. He married Kristin, an attorney, in June 2002. The couple live in Richmond, VA, on one of the areas most picturesque streets.
    Sara Knott Nichols and husband, Bucky, had twin girls on June 28, 2003. Ella and Daisy are doing well. Sara resigned her position as a primary language specialist at Summit to be with her babies. The Nichols live in Greensboro.
    Joanne Lee Stemple and her husband, Jason, are enjoying Charleston and expecting twins in May.
    Ian Mayville owns and operates an American Express Financial Advisors franchise in Boca Raton, FL. He recently had a great time catching up with Adam McKinnon at Ians sister Liz Mayville's (87) March wedding in Charleston.
    Jennifer Adams Dock, husband Steve, and son Bryan, born July 17, 2001, will move to the Chapel Hill area in June. Steve is a chemist with GlaxoSmithKlein and Jennifer is a school psychologist.
    Carlyle Chandler, his wife Allison, and baby Margaret, had a ball visiting Summit in October to watch dear friend and Summit eighth grader Margaret Douglas play in a school soccer game. Margaret Chandler is the granddaughter of Dr. and Mrs. D. C. Chandler who are very good friends with Margaret Douglas's parents, Courtney and Charles Douglas.
    Beth Perry married Michael Frank Skorich on Novembr 8, 2003 on St. Simons Island. Beth graduated from Duke University and received an MBA from Wake Forest University. She formerly worked for R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Co. in brand marketing. The groom graduated from Cornell University and received an MBA from Wake Forest University. Summit alums in the wedding included: Annie Davis Perry '93, the bride's sister, Ford Perry '89, the bride's brother, and Paula Sommerkamp Magargle'89.

1987
    Whit Edwards and his wife, Fleming, had a son, Stewart Whitfield Jr., born April 5,2002. They live in Free Union, VA.
    Joe Koufman is a Major Account Executive with KnowledgeStorm, Inc. in Atlanta and would love to hear from old Summit classmates!
    Duncan Memory and his wife Amy are enjoying their daughter Ella (born February 2003).  Duncan teaches English at West Forsyth High School where he also coaches the men's JV soccer team and advises the Key Club.
    Hunter Peterson is pursuing an M.B.A. at Dartmouths Tuck School of Business where he is also the lead singer in the Tuck M.B.A. band.  He reports that sister, Jamie 85, lives in Boca Raton and has two young sons. His brother, Jason '90, lives in Charlotte.
    Sage Hamilton Rountree had a baby girl, Vivian Iris Rountree, 6 lbs., 15 oz., on August 4, 2003. Sage works as a free lance editor in Chapel Hill. She and her husband also have a daughter, Lily, 21/2. Fifth grade teacher Cindy Hamilton is the girl's grandmother.
    Tobin Tucker lives in the Raleigh/Cary area where she is fixing up a condo. She works at the American Kennel Club.
    Melissa Stauffer Ervin announces the birth of her third child, John Henry, born on January, 31, 2001. Jack joins sisters Lily and Riley. The Ervins moved from Greensboro to Winston-Salem last year.
    Lara Marchuk Mayberry lives in Atlanta with her husband Preston, a financial analyst, and their two Siamese cats Jordan and K.C.  She is an advertising executive at the Home Depot Corporate Headquarters where she has been working for six and-a-half years.
    Congratulations to Bobby Price and his wife Margaret who welcomed son William Raymond Price III on September 9, 2003.

    Beth Vann Bowman and her husband, Jon, welcomed their first child, Andrew Michael, January 18, 2002. He was born 6 1/2 weeks early but was perfectly healthy.

1989
    John Fleming married Julie Brunson on Oct. 25, 2002 in Florence, Italy.
    Ben Gaddy and wife, Melissa, live in Mt. Pleasant, SC, where Ben works in sales for Blackbaud.
    Shakira Hand Humble and her husband,Scott, will be moving to Washington, D.C. in June where he will be doing a fellowship at the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology in bone and soft tissue.
    Gordon Spaugh and his wife, Christie, have a one-year-old son, Eric. Gordon is attending Darden BusinessSchool at UVA.
    Bates Grainger was married on March 29, 2003, at First Presbyterian Church in Greensboro. He and his wife Brooks live in Atlanta where Bates is a Public Relations Account Manager for Career Sports Management, Inc.
    Sarah Griffin married C. Kent Lovett in April 2002. They live in Greensboro where Sarah works for Highwood Properties as a property manager.

1990
    Candler Vaughn Cox gave birth to a daughter, Abby Elizabeth, on July 6, 2002. Candler works at Forsyth County Sheriff's office as a deputy sheriff.
    Teddy Crawford attends Columbia BusinessSchool. He loves Columbia and NYC.
    Ann Nicastro Gibson lives in Winston-Salem with her husband, Daniel, and new daughter, Frances Lore Gibson, born on March 5, 2003.
    Martha Benbow Massey's 3.5 USTA tennis team represented Winston-Salem in a state tournament in Pinehurst.  Martha played second singles and won 3 of 4 matches.  She will coach Calvary Baptists Girls First tennis team in the fall of 2003.  Martha has recently become a Mary Kay Beauty Consultant.
    Cullen Moss and his wife had a baby boy named Dixon Dean on Friday, June 27, 2003. The babys grandmother, JrK teacher Deanna Moss, travels to Wilmington to visit as often as possible.  Cullen has a role in One Tree Hill, a new series on the WB channel.
    Cooper Williams married wife Beth in October, 2001. He is working with his father in real estate development.
    Alexa Memory recently purchased a home built in 1909 in Portland, OR.  She is a client relations manager at Notus Career Management, a career counseling firm.  She is also pursuing a master's degree in career counseling.

1991
    Theodore (T.R.) Keith recently moved from Greenville, S.C. to Atlanta where he is a Sales Manager for Morgan Stanley.
    Alison E. Wesley will marry Matthew O. Puccinelli on October 18th on Bald Head Island.  They will live in Richmond, VA.

1992
    Kelly Newcomb received her CPA certification and was promoted to Senior Tax consultant with Deloitte and Touche in Charlotte, NC.
    Caroline Sanders teaches art at Paisley Middle School in Winston-Salem. Her woodcuts were featured in an exhibition held in August, 2003 at the Atelier Gallery located on Trade Street in the citys Arts District. During November and December, Caroline also had a showing of her work in Summit's gallery on the third floor of the school's library.
    Allison Burns was recently promoted to Assistant Manager at AppleOne Employment Services in Atlanta, GA.

1993
    Brooke Corbello married Jason Smith on June 30, 2001.  She is currently seeking her Masters in Business.
    Mylia D. Belton lives in Lewisville, NC. She says she is doing well and misses everyone.
    Will Copenhaver is an analyst with Terra Lycos in New York City.
    Michael Thomas has a B.S. degree in Business Economics from the University of Alabama. He is working at State Farm selling home equity loans and working on an MBA in Finance from the University of Missouri - St. Louis.
    Ryan Triplette will graduate from the University of Richmond School of Law in May, 2003.
    Dan Blynn recently passed the Maryland Bar exam after his graduation from Wake Forest Law School last spring. He is specializing in litigation at Washington, DC firm Collier, Shannon and Scott.

1994
    Casey Copenhaver is an Account Executive with Ogilvy and Mather in New York City.
    Caroline Gray will marry David DenHerder on September 27 in Washington, D C. After a honeymoon trip to Hawaii, they will live in Arlington, VA. Her Summit alum bridesmaids include Jeannette May Ferguson '94, Caroline Fagg '95, Fraser Gray '93.
    Katherine Hollis has been appointed the Teaching Fellow in Spanish at Deerfield Academy for the 2003-2004 academic year.  The program is dedicated to the development of new teachers and is based on the belief that an apprenticeship relationship is the best way to develop the craft of teaching.  In addition to teaching, Katherine will reside in a dorm and coach athletics.
    After completing his second year in graduate theater work in Colorado, Skip Long moved to East Bend, NC, where has started a production company called Decameron Miranda Ltd. His goal is to produce theater and films on a cost-effective budget. He plans to shoot a movie out west this fall and has another movie that is still in the development stages. Skip plans to have the first movie ready for the festival season in the upcoming year.  While in graduate schoool, Skip worked at The Village Tavern in Boulder, CO, owned by former Summit parent Scott Richardson. He said there were a number of employees with North Carolina connections including Gray Robinson '96.
    Mary Craig Wilson is the director of an art gallery in San Francisco.

1995
    Alan Cox finished a B.S. in Applied Mathematics and Computer Science and is starting a Ph.D. at NC State in fall 2003.
    Denise Gagnon graduated from the Olin School of Business at Washington University in St. Louis in May 2002 with a BSBA in Finance, International Business and French. She currently works for the Boeing Company in St. Louis in Military Aircraft International Contract Negotiation. Denise also completed the 2002 Chicago Marathon, finishing in the top 5% of her age group, and qualified for the 2003 Boston Marathon.
    Sarah Johnson graduated from N. C. State University in December, 2002.
    Amy E. Kaplan is graduating from MeredithCollege with a BA in Sociology and working for Hyatt in Atlanta in their sales division.
    Catherine Holden married fellow Summit graduate Dustin Koufman '96 on November 8, 2003 in Centenary United Methodist Church in Winston-Salem. Catherine graduated from Meredith College and is a teacher at Pinebrook Elementary School in Davie County. Dustin graduated from West Virginia University. The couple live in Winston-Salem.  Caroline Fagg '95 and Hartley Jewell '95 were bridesmaids. Daniel Koufman '99, the grooms brother, was best man and the bride's brothers David Holden '92  and Brian Holden '01 were groomsmen. Also in the wedding were Summit alums, Michael Schultz '96, Andrew Holmes '96, and Gray Robinson '96.

1996
    Katie Ashworth graduated from UNC-Chapel Hill with a degree in journalism and Spanish. She is working in Charlotte for Newell Rubbermaid as a sales representative for Calaphon cookware.
    Kyle Goodridge graduated from the University of Michigan in April, 2003. He double majored in history and political science.  He wrote numerous editorials for the Michigan Daily and volunteered with Habitat for Humanity. He was commisioned a Second Lieutenant in the U.S. Army, having completed four years of the U.S. Army ROTC Program as a scholarship Cadet.  Kyle spent the summer of 2002 at Ft. Lewis, Washington attending the U.S. Army Advanced Leadership Camp as well as an internship at Ft. Hood. He is assigned to Ft. Bliss, TX, for five months of Officer Training Camp with the Air Defense Artillery.
    Emily Jackson will graduate from UNC-Chapel Hill in May, 2003.
    Brendan Wheeler graduated from Vassar College in May, 2003, with a degree in English.
    Robert (Rob) N. Wesley III graduated from N.C. State University in 2003 and is in graduate school at Monterey Institute of International Studies.  Rob has also travelled abroad and completed a course of studies through the Fund for American Studies at Georgetown University.
    Harlan Blynn graduated from Case Western Reserve University and plans to enter the Peace Corps this spring. He hopes to be nominated for an assignment in the Pacific.

1997
    Scott Harwell has just completed his third year at N.C. State and will graduate with a B.A. in Political Science.  Scott is spending the summer working for a movie and T.V. producer in Los Angeles and plans to move to the West Coast after graduation.
    Kate Hedgpeth graduated in May from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and has moved to Boston, MA.

1998
    Casey Hammer was honored with a reception to celebrate the July 18th, 2003, opening of her art show, entitled Serendipity, at the Piedmont Arts Association in Martinsville, VA. Caseys oil painting, Energy, was featured on the invitation to the reception. Casey is a student at Warren Wilson College.
    Bill Jackson is completing his sophomore year at Vanderbilt (2002-2003). His name was inadvertently left off of the Colleges Attended by the Class of 1998 that appeared in the recent issue of Summit Echoes. Sorry, Bill.

1999
    Stephanie Cox was named to the spring 2003 Deans List at the University of Tennesse. She is currently in her sophomore year. Stephanie was on the Magna Cum Laude list for the spring 2003 semester.
    Katie Parsley was among a group of Davidson College students who appeared on a segment of Viewpoint which is broadcast on CNN. The show, which was taped in March, 2003, linked by video groups of students from Iraq with students from Davidson. The show was sponsored by the Arab television network Abu Dhabi TV and was moderated by James Zogby, who is founder and head of the Washington-based Arab American Institute and a visiting professor at Davidson.  Katies picture also appeared in an article about the broadcast on the CNN.com/education website.
    George Memory was named to the Athletic Director's Honor Roll at Elon University where he is a sophomore and a member of the men's tennis team.    A business major, George will spend the month of January 2004 in London studying the Culture of Business.
    Aaron Blynn is doing well at Johns Hopkins University where he has been a member of the varsity soccer team for two years.

2000
    William John Fedora III is a freshman at Hampden-Sydney College where he received the Presidents Award. He is a graduate of Episcopal High School in Alexandria, VA.
    Meredith Hefner graduated from Salem Academy where she was elected vice President of her senior class and to an honorary spirit role. Throughout her four years at Salem, she participated in many extracurricular activities and sports, including serving as co-captain of the varsity basketball team. She will attend Southern Methodist University in Dallas, TX next fall as a University Scholar. Meredith was born in Dallas and her grandparents and other family members live in the area.
    Beth Johnson will enter Hollins University in the fall of 2003.
    Jordan Wesley graduated from RJ Reynolds High School in 2003 and is attending Washington and Lee University.  He is studying pre-med.

2001
    Gus Chrysson, a rising senior at Forsyth Country Day, was selected for the N.C. Honors Chorus last fall.  N. C. Honors Chorus is an extremely competitive festival sponsored by the N. C. Music Educators Association. A thousand or so students from across the state auditioned for a choir of 180 to 200 singers who rehearsed and performed as part  of the NCMEA Convention held in November.
    Brian Holden, a senior at Forsyth Country Day, was recently noted as one of the best defensivemen in the country by Lacrosse Magazine. Two years ago, as a sophomore, he was invited to the Under 19 World Team try-out, which mostly includes college freshmen. Brian, who has been selected to First Team All-State for the past two years, is the team captain of the Forsyth lacrosse team. Brian recently received a scholarship to play Division I lacrosse at Syracuse University.

2002
     Zack Bacon was featured in an article in the October 10, 2003, issue of Pine Whispers, the R.J. Reynolds student newspaper. Zach was commended for his school spirit and his dedication as the manager for both the J.V. and varsity football teams this fall.  Zach has also served as manager of the schools basketball and baseball teams. The article quoted student Andrew Britt who said: his dedication is the greatest and most admirable of anyone involved with  RJR football and possibly of anyone in the school.

2004
    Congratulations to Summit ninth graders Noel Bynum and Jordan Schwall who recently received their Eagle Scout Award.
    Eric Wallace, a freshmen at Glenn High School in Winston Salem, is a rising basketball star. He is beginning to attract the attention of college recruiters as he is rated the number two prospect for the Carolinas and and number ten nationally.  Eric, who is 6' 5", has averaged 20 points per game as a wing guard in AAU basketball. His team, Kappa Magic, qualified for a national tournament in Florida.
