Admissions Procedures

1.  We acknowledge the receipt of all applications and ask parents to make an appointment to tour the school.  We expect the parents to visit the school before the child is involved in the admissions process.  At that time we can discuss the curricula and special programs.  We encourage parents to ask about particular areas of interest that apply to their own child.

2.  Each year we have room for 54 children in our junior kindergarten program.  Applicants should pass their fourth birthday by beginning of July.  If applicants have passed their fifth birthday before July, they will be considered for senior kindergarten.  Starting in January we select children to come for a visit with their parents.

3. The admissions procedure for senior kindergarten is much like that for junior kindergarten. Ordinarily , we require no testing for admission to either level of kindergarten, but we will request evaluations from the child's current teacher.

4.  We will invite applicants for grades 1-9 to visit in the spring of the year of entrance.  Depending upon the information received from the student's previous school, we may administer some aptitude and/or achievement tests.

5.  The admissions committee usually makes a decision within a week after the student's visit.

6.  At each level above junior kindergarten there are usually a few openings each year, but the number of openings is uncertain until current students have been reenrolled in March.  In late spring, when we know how many places will be available for boys and girls from new families, we will begin to fill these places from the applicant file.

7.  When our enrollment is complete, usually by the middle of April, we will notify all remaining applicant families.  Applications will be carried forward for succeeding years if a place is not available in the year indicated.
