SUMMIT TV6
PRODUCTION STUDIO

Summit TV6 is an in-school broadcast system and video production studio utilized by all levels of the Summit community.  Students write, shoot, and produce news broadcasts as well as special curriculum-based projects blending television, public speaking, and computer skills.

Seventh, eighth and ninth grade students participate in a video production activity in which they create programs ranging from documentaries to talk shows.  They also write and produce short films, assist with in-class TV broadcasts, and participate in video conferences with classes in other schools.

Students also assist in recording and broadcasting dramas, musicals, and other grade level performances. The ninth grade produces a weekly newscast called "World View,"  while the fourth and fifth grade have experimented with radio programming.
The Summit TV6 experience is designed to teach computer skills, public speaking, insight and awareness of the news media, and student teamwork. It fosters self-confidence, and allows students to experiment with current trends in our ever-changing technical world.

The Hopkins Theatre is wired directly to the TV6 control room which allows any production to be recorded. A student   video team records the program in a multi-camera format and is mixed live to S-VHS, DVD or HDD format.  The control room also houses a CD/DVD/video duplication machine and all software/hardware to transfer film, video, pictures and other media to most common digital formats.

The CATV headend delivers TV6 as well as all local cable channels to 72 rooms. We can also deliver C and Ku Band satellite presentations to the classrooms. A sub band transmitter enables a live broadcast to originate from any classroom. In-house Channel 5 allows greater flexibility in media delivery to classrooms.
